The biggest issue with giving the wingnuts what they want (an ultra-conservative) is that you're expecting them to learn a lesson once he loses.

when it's very likely the lesson they learn is that the establishment wasn't far enough right to support him because Ted is so hated by the elite, but supported by the grass-roots.
