dear st: good thoughts and anything else you can give for my mom, please.

she had to have emergency brain surgery overnight.

she somehow tripped on monday walking from her kitchen to her family room (I'll spare my ongoing frustrations re: her not always taking the care she's meant to take), somehow fell down and into her glasses, had a bruise and small cuts near one of her eyes. saw her primary care doctor yesterday and a ct was ordered to be safe, so she planned to schedule that after insurance pre-approval.

she didn't want to go to the er (avoiding the need to wait for the ct). she should have gone. late last night, she was sitting at the kitchen table with my sister who helps her a lot; and she complained about a very bad headache then started talking gibberish. ambulance took her to the local hospital.

she takes 2 different medications that are blood thinners because of her heart device and related concerns. that allowed more bleeding to take place inside than regular people would have (a plus side, they prevented a clot that could have been bad faster); and it pooled against her skull, causing pressure, etc.

it can take days to gradually see if she can regain consciousness, and if there are any lasting effects.

she'll be 80 in july, and her heart stuff plus the leg infection that had her away from home for 8 months a couple of years ago, plus some other medical things and more have made the past few years really rough; but she still has had hope for better times ahead, including recently having some successful long-anticipated surgery to allow pain relief from a hernia. this happening now is the extra super suck. :/

thanks, in advance, for any good health and healing thoughts, etc.
