Water in the distributor or the starter flooded out. New starter, clean out the distributor.

Of course those would be the next steps (get a rebuild starter don't buy a new one) not sure what the car is worth.
Water in the distributor is very very common and easy to fix. Pop of the top where the other ends of the spark plug wires go and dry it all out with a rag. Unhook the battery first.
Unhook the batter first....
