YDC: But this is where having status with an airline screws you.

I am looking at three flights, all around the same time so consider that even and these are my options:

Airline A (no status): $136 fare for regular cramped economy or $186 for extra legroom economy seat. No first class upgrade offered.

Airline B (no status): $136 for regular cramped economy OR $165 for extra legroom economy OR $215 for first class.

Airline C (status): $205 fare. I get the extra legroom seat for free at booking. And, space available, I will get upgraded to first class for free. (For sake of argument say 80% or more chance of upgrade)

Ugh
