Palin in 2008 early on was a woman who excited the base, was telegenic and a breath of fresh air.

It only took a few weeks for that to dissipate into what we know she is; a relatively unserious person in way over her head, but Palin at least had a sense of newness and had actively won a few elections.

Carly isn't all that exciting (outside of a few effective attacks on Hillary), is an average looking woman, and doesn't shine on the campaign trail overall.

It's just a weak ploy.
