but also people who are rep's but won't vote for him, and those who hear what he's said about the party and had it translate to down-ticket candidates

that's a significant issue for the party.
there has to be some care given with dismissing him vs. his supporters, with laying it out that he does not represent all republicans, and with pushing back against what he's said about current republican politicians.
