We do a small suitcase with wheels and our second carry on is a backpack -- nm

Carry on is a laptop bag with wheels, which I can fit a couple of night stuff into. After that I just check it since I generally have tools -- nm

Other than my laptop bag, I check. Carry-on is a pain in the ass. -- nm

Nope. Unless you are going away for over a week, there is no reason to check a bag. -- nm

I used to be like this. Most of my heavy work travel I was like this. Then I waited at baggage claim for 30 minute one too many times. -- (edited)

Agreed. 30 min wait is insane. I won't do it -- nm

I *ALWAYS* check for work travel, even if it's a two night trip. It's on them after all.

I had a bag (*thinks* perhaps this bag) lost by an airline in Italy once while on a three week, three country stint in Europe.

I have a 21 or 22 inch Samsonite spinner. Don't recall exact dimension, but on paper it is just within specs.

I'm considering giving up my hard sided carry on suitcase and replacing it with a carry on duffle. -- nm
