I hope the movie is better. I read it fairly soon after it came out. it was very promising to start but then it started to tick me off, and that grew after I had finished and thought about it more. I don't want to spoil anything, so I'll leave it at that. coincidentally, I read another book around the same time that had a male character with a similar situation (didn't know that in advance); and it was better.
