I don't usually do this, but wanted to share with you all. Hug someone you love today please

My step dad Rob was an amazing man.

The toughest sob I've ever met. He did Navy Seal training and fought in Vietnam. He was a homebuilder for a bit - hell he could build anything with his hands. A professional bodybuilder at one time he also trained women who won titles in the sport. A whitewater rafting enthusiast, he was a guide and instructor for awhile. In later years he became a chef. He was the head chef at The Broker in Denver and then went on to run kitchens in retirement homes. The guy could walk into any kitchen and pull random things off shelves and voila! a gourmet meal! He taught me so much about cooking. I swear there is nothing he couldn't do.

15 years ago guillain-barré syndrome tried to beat his ass. He was paralyzed and in the hospital for 6 months. He won that battle.

8 years ago he got prostate cancer. He won that battle too. He was cancer free for 5 years.

3 years ago it came back. He fought it every day. Never complaining. Even when a tumor cracked his jaw. Never letting my Mom know how bad it was. He fell earlier this year and broke his leg. Walked around on it for days without telling my Mom. Didn't want to bother her.

This last battle was too much for him.

We lost an incredible person today.
