the use case for an AR-15 being a hunting weapon is intellectually dishonest. Ditto home defense.

"spray and pray" is one way to hunt, sure.
and special ops uses M4s with shorter overall stocks and barrels to maneuver in tight spaces like a home. Not an M-16/AR-15 derivative.
The gun manufactures make a lot of money off of people's fetishes. Meanwhile, every few months we deal with what happened Sunday morning.
