the judge apparently went with the "innocent kid from the midwest, got in over his head" storyline, and stuck with it.
I don't think it's been said here that the 6 months was apparently recommended by probation folks, because of it being a first time offense, etc.
I want more to be asked about that, because I read comments from people who know these kinds of cases (former d.a.'s and defenders) well that the 6 months in jail + probation is not the norm and that, at least, there is usually prison time when the charge of intent to commit rape is in the mix.
