95-96 was an expansion year, which no doubt watered down the league. that's one thing that i think is a big point in favor of the 85-86 celts and the 86-87 lakers in these discussions is that there were a lot fewer teams. those two teams were bringing people like bill walton and mychal thompson off their benches, which is insane.
