I think you underestimate the extent of the uproar if the clear vote winner were ousted. Like him or not, I think there's still a pretty strong

belief that he won the process handily and fairly. To take him out would be undemocratic. His die-hards would have a fit (rioting would not be out of the question) and a tainted new candidate would have to start from in the whole of arguing why he's even in the race (even though there are obvious answers, they are, as mentioned, undemocratic). You're looking at pulling everything together in a period of a few months. I think it's unrealistic and I don't think anyone wants to take on the burden with little to no likely upside. Could they win? Yes. Are they likely to? No.
