I'd add you can't bridge a gap when the other side keeps blowing up every bridge you try to build. The republicans made obstructionism their highest

priority. It finally broke what was a struggling institution. Donald Trump is the result of that effort. I would never blame one side completely (there's always room to go around), but it's not just a majority of the blame to the republicans. It's the vast bulk of it.
