Yet, no one cried for Sony to just go third party.

Nintendo only has a few IPs that adult men like. So, those men insist that Nintendo go third party so they can play those titles, but it's not best for the company's image or profits. Nintendo can make phone apps, and still make money off their own hardware and games.
