Some Pokemon are better than others vs another Pokemon. And you can dodge side to side to try and avoid attacks

The Combat number is your best tool to see strength vs another. But later on you will see that is not the only number that matters in battles

Yeah there are some obvious matchups (grass weak to fire, etc) but I don't really know what they all are to know the best matchups -- nm

There's really two "games" in it. One is just collection. The other is the gym battle part.
