Catchers, in general, just aren't worth free agent money. They play 80% of the games, and are lauded when they can hit nearly as well as a 1B or OF. -- (edited)

Plus, they mostly stop catching before they're 35. I'd take a few journeymen catchers who can call a good game over one that costs $15 million a year.
