It's confusing, but think of it this way ...

Let's assume for a minute that Orlando Bloom and Miranda Kerr are still together. If Orlando and I fall in love with each other, then the three of us are in a "V-arrangement" with Orlando at the point of the V (and Ms. Kerr and I barely able to tolerate one another).
A "triangle-arrangement" would be a case like me meeting up with John Cho and Daniel Henney on a gambling junket to Macau and all three of us falling madly in love with each other roughly equally.
It's all about the romantic ties and who they tie.
