he's horrid, and I have no interest in defending him; but.. this one is not quite the same as with the others

that have made news. she went into it eyes wide open, she wasn't coerced to.
there's some dom/sub stuff there, and she went along with it. while it's not for everyone, she was consenting; and she had multiple chances to move along from him completely, but she chose not to, even hoped she'd stay with him. she doesn't mention him threatening her re: if she stopped with him, when she had those chances to move along.
I know there's some brainwashing type stuff that can happen between abusers and their victims, but she's not actually saying that's what happened for the first bunch of years. she even admits part of the reason she kept going instead of ending things was hope for her career - as long as that was part of it, that's not all on him either.
it also reads like it was the gossip about her and related treatment that is what started to get to her, and what caused him to then turn more generally awful towards her. that part about him is completely different.
