I think a big part of it is the fact that MLS doesn't have the retention power to hold onto talent. Anyone decents jumps ship for Europe.

the US team, on the other hand, is looking pretty good so far.

to be fair, this happens everywhere. Even in the EPL, the bottom teams or even teams in the bottom leagues lose the best players to the top teams
