both teams can lift, but only one team knows where the ball is going. other team has to guess.

both teams try on the scrum, but the guy who throws the ball in spins it toward his team. if you lose a scrum, it's usually because you screwed something up, or you're just overmatched.
yes to your second question, but only penalty kicks, not free kicks. with free kicks regular lineout rules apply (so the other team gets to put it back in). you get free kicks for less severe things, penalties for more severe.
