Agreed. It is a non-issue for me though interesting. I didn't expect that even with the number of players involved you'd have Day 1 people running

tbh, a coworker had read somewhere that they had messaged each other about where to meet on Player A's planet as Player B had discovered the planet. -- (edited)

Right, and I imagine Player B had "discovered" it using the find-nearest-discovered-sytem button in the map. -- nm

Ultimately I suspect it's a "we would have liked to do it, but it would have delayed the game by 6 months" type thing. -- nm
