Debt, even large amounts of it, need not be a problem. Most people don't seem to consider their mortgages as "real" debt but it's the largest amount most people will ever owe.
Responses:
and there's a huge difference between government and private debt. when most of your debt is held by your taxpayers, it's not a huge deal.
