the person who makes pastrami, also makes pickles

2 cups vinegar
3 cups water
1/4 cup salt
1 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes or chop up a jalepeno [or less, depending on how everyone eats them]
2 tsp sugar
1-2 tbsp. granulated or chopped garlic depending on your taste
1 tbsp. dill


put it all in a pot and boil it so the salt & sugar go into solution

let it cool to room temp.
chop cukes & put in a bottle. add cooled liquid and fill to the top. refrigerate.
check the next day for taste. if it is too strong, dump out 1/3 of the liquid and replace with water. this will draw out some of the flavor.

these last about a month
