well DC (in the past) didn't have anything to do with the movies or tv shows for the most part...

Johns started with Smallville scripting those terrific JSA episodes.
Martin Campbell fucked him with Green Lantern.
I'm not saying he's a savior but he's not a bad pick for comic guy who worked for Richard Donner to be writing and helping run the DC film slate now. And hopefully we'll see that moving forward.
Kevin Smith in the 90's when he was writing hte Superman movie asked the movie people why not ask the writers of the comics to write the movie and the movie people just blew that off
