STIS: Can anyone help me understand this, the dress code I'm supposed to follow for my internship?

Dress shirt
Dress slacks or dress skirt
Dress shoes and hosiery
Dress or suit
Sweaters, vests
I guess my question is, do they honestly need us to wear hosiery in the summer? Will sundresses suffice or do they mean more subdued, Ann Taylor-style dresses? Do ballet flats count as dress shoes?
This is for a store retail management internship. I'll basically be a general manager.

sounds conservative. I would avoid sundresses and wear hose anytime you have a skirt on. -- nm
