the answer has always ended up being "Well, maybe the appearance wasn't great but substantively there is actually not a scandal here."

nobody ever asked those questions of Powell's foundation, the Bush foundation, anyone else's foundation

if you want to have a debate about money on politics being a key to access, by all means let's have that debate. but don't pretend, as the media uniformly appears to be, that somehow Hillary Clinton invented any of this or is in fact engaging in quid pro quo for the Foundation's legitimate charitable work
