And exactly why would it be wrong for the Lebanese ambassador to discuss the interests of a Lebanese businessman? Part of the state department's role

is to help facilitate ties within other countries in furtherance of US goals. If these undermine US goals then there is something to discuss, if not it's just the State Department doing its job.
