workplace ethics(ish) question: for the 2 years i've been here, company has reimbursed $100/mo for my transit card, but i also get $130/mo for parking
|
even though i don't drive a car. as far as i have always understood, you're entitled to the parking as a perk of the job whether you actually use it or not
one of the new hires told me yesterday (after I saw him on the train and mentioned that HR would pay for his transit expenses in addition to parking) that corporate told him he could only get one or the other
do you mess with something that the company has knowlingly been paying you all along, if you have reason to think maybe they shouldn't have been?
when i was first hired, i expressly emailed the benefits person with a question about these issues, so they should have known from the very start that i only use public transit to commute to the job

i have a similar ethical question. We get up to $300/year for chiropractor. I got about $150 earlier in the year, then submitted for the remainder

Nope. Leave it. It's possible you're grandfathered in or something. -- nm

For the normal person no, HR problems are the company's concern. They should hire better HR, audit more. -- (edited)

if it's only one or the other, why wouldn't they just give everyone $130 and you can apply as needed? -- nm*

If you expressly emailed about it, you're in the clear. -- nm
