but many people seem to have decided that vaccines are what causes it, full stop, end of discussion, why-are you-covering-up-the-truth! This despite the sole study showing any link having been faked, and the chemical blamed as the culprit having been removed with no effect (which, of course, doesn't prove it's not something else in it).

I'm not going to say I know what these families have gone through, and your brother's family has obviously done a magnificent job raising your nephew. But at some point the people hammering away on this issue to the deficit of everything else are hurting more than they are helping. And the unfortunate possibility is that there simply may not be a solution.
