She didn't call out racists. She called out half of the 40-45% of the voting public supporting him.

Her comments a week or two back were far better. There is a visceral reaction among many people to being called racist because many of them don't consider themselves to be so. It is a needless insult, especially as there are going to be millions of people thinking "Wait, is she calling me racist because I am tough on illegal immigration? Screw her!"
Their support of Trump which was very likely is now guaranteed. Never assign numbers. When it comes to this topic, be ironclad specific. David Duke, the Star of David issue. "Segments of his support".
Broad brushes smear everyone.

She did call out the racists, and she did it very cleverly by giving people who take exception to being lumped in with racists an out. -- (edited)
