In response to "If I call you a racist, are you more or less likely to want to beat me?" by Will Hunting

I think those people are coming out to vote no matter what is said about them. They're already motivated.

The question about whether this is politically smart revolves around how many voters currently standing on the same side as the racists are going to say "hang on, this isn't what I want" and stay at home, or vote for HRC.

I'm not sure it is smart, because as usual the focus is on the clickbait - "basket of deplorables", and not on the nuance - "people who feel that the government has let them down, the economy has let them down, nobody cares about them, nobody worries about what happens to their lives and their futures, and they're just desperate for change".

But the debate's going to be about this issue for the next day or two, so we'll see how it plays out.
