If you actually stop to think aboout it, which nobody does, public funding of stadiums for teams is absurd. -- (edited)

It's your business. You make money from it. Your business is worth billions. If you want to build a new storefront to help your business make money, you should pay for it.
I'm following Tottenham's building of their new stadium in London and it's a completely different deal. They can't really threaten to move and they actually have to make tough financial decisions while they are building the stadium because it requires so much capital. That's how it should be. Then when it's done, they have their own revenue generating building. It's an investment.
I know we are too far down the road, but a city committing $750 million in public funding for a place to play football is crazy. I get the pride and even local revenue that spins off of it, but I'm having a harder and harder time wrapping my mind around the funding piece and if it's worth it at all.
