So I wanted to share this...we remember how my parents are with the gay thing right?

So I've been dating my current boyfriend for 5 years. yes, five. We always joke that we know we are going to get married one day, so he really isn't going anywhere. My parents have never met him, and never ask about my personal life at all. My father and I don't speak much, and everything is very surface level.

My 30th birthday in a week or so. My mother has been bugging me about what day I can come out for lunch/dinner. I explained that it's difficult because it's the type of event I'd like the bf to come out for. She texted me back "I know. Dad and I have been talking about things. Call after work." I called after work, and my mother apologized for how everything has been, that she's never met, etc. The apology was nice, and apparently she has actually been thinking instead of ignoring. She and my father have invited the bf to come out with me for lunch so they can meet him. Suffice to say, I was and am pretty shocked. :-)
