Because they own hotels in China, it has to go through Chinese anti-trust regulators. Same thing with two non-US companies merging with US operations. -- nm

There was speculation that they were dragging their feet because Anbang (ANBANG!) lost the bidding war but they ended up approving without conditions. -- nm
