I feel bad for the author, especially if there were some reasons (personal safety, etc.) for the anonymity in the mix; but it's not reasonable

to expect no one will dig and that some will publish. it would have been decent, at least, if the author had been contacted about why the choice was made.
that safety thing is not small, ya know? from witness protection to a history of personal whatever, could be bad news for higher-level attention.
maybe also the author feeling incapable of handling the attention mentally or the like. :/
