To me this is the most telling/important piece of Electoral College voting in years to come.

Look at the states where each party has won in the past 3 elections. 2004/2008/2012. If you look at the numbers/state like this, the GOP starts with 179 ECV. The Democrats start with 242.
The states not included are:
NV, CO, NM
IA, IN, OH
VA, NC, FL
NH
Further: NV, CO, NM, IA, OH, VA, FL, and NH all went Dem twice in a row. That leaves just NC as something that's switched in the past 2 elections. This isn't good for the GOP.
At some point the GOP would need to make inroads into these states, and bigtime. Because if they keep losing them, they can find themselves "locked out" of the EC for a time, unless they really bring a strong candidate or change.
