In response to "Who plays young Dumbledore? I mean, Orlando Bloom would be perfect. -- nm" by Mop

The cheeky answer is Daniel Radcliffe.

My suspicion is that they go 20-something rather than older, which takes out David Tennant, who they'd already burned anyway, plus Hiddleston, James McAvoy and Matthew Goode (who gets my vote, all other things being equal). It's also why I doubt Depp is that character. He's 53. The only way he works is if there are two versions of the character and it's told through flashbacks as Voldemort kills him.

I doubt they'd consider someone like Pattinson or Garfield, even if Pattinson hadn't already been in HP4. What I'd expect is for them to take a hard look at anybody with a sterling reputation from Game of Thrones, Doctor Who or Downton Abbey.

So, five names I'd throw out there are Matt Smith, Joe Dempsie (who is about to take his rightful place as a ruler of Westeros and thereby elevate his international awareness), Alfie Allen, Arthur Darvill, and Jamie Bell.

If they chose to go super young, Asa Butterfield and Tye Sheridan are possibilities, although I think the latter dude is the only one I list here who isn't British. That might be a non-starter.
