In response to "Was wondering if you ever came across anything like this. I've seen some great presentations on Australian cultural sites. A friend has been out " by Meg

a few. the coolest was when they took us to a water hole. just driving through the bus and a guy went "go over there."

he got out, looked around for a while, then started digging a hole, which promptly started to fill with water, which is impressive in the middle of the dry season.

one pictograph site, but they didn't let the white fellas go near them. some of them are gender-specific as well. there was a big penis-looking rock at one place I worked that women weren't allowed to go to, and a water hole that was female-only. a lot of the sacred sites were just totally off limits to outsiders. they don't even tell us why some of them are sacred.
