I can only speak for my experience with cats, but it's similar. -- (edited)

I had Abbie for 12 years before she died. For a cat she was on the needy side. A lot of meowing for attention, and play. When she was about 9 we tried to get a kitten and that went bad. She just wouldn't have it. So we gave the kitten to my Aunt after trying for 6 weeks to get them to adjust.

So this time around we got two cats. They play with each other and rarely feel needy to us. Still give us lap time, but they entertain each other.

When we go on vacation we don't worry that they will get bored, because they have each other.

We will never just have a single pet again. They really benefit having another friend. Even cat dog combos work very well, that coming from friends of mine. My boss has a dog and cat and they are pals.

I suggest getting her.
