My favorite version of this has always been from an episode of Ed.

Mail a sports prediction to a set of unrelated recipients.
Mail an opposite prediction to an equal set of recipients.
After the first results, repeat in the 'correct' set with a new prediction, and repeat again until you're down to one person, then offer the next prediction for money.
