In response to "Movies this weekend: Spy: A- (very funny) -- nm" by Beaker

Strange - gentleman's B. MM:FR B/C - A- and snuck into Hacksaw Ridge...

MM:FR B/C misses something with the vibrant colors. There were a few shots that were visually ordinary in the color version which were remarkable in B/W. But overall I missed the color.

HSR has Gibson's fingerprints all over it. It's Fire/Blood and Jesus. It had Fire and Blood in the first 10 mins. He sure does love his flame throwers.

There were things in it, because I knew it was a MG movie that turned me off. He doesn't get to have a salty Drill Sargent who tells ethnic jokes. It's just off putting rather than humorous knowing who's behind it.

The comparison to SPR don't hold up to me. The violence is startling in places but the cinematography and sound weren't nearly at the save high level. Remember the sound of the German machine gun in SPR? I do. HSR doesn't do a bad job of horrifying you it's just not the same as SPR.

The movie is well done. But I couldn't help but feeling it was less because of who made it. None the less - the man who the movie was based on deserves the recognition. If even half of what is in the movie is true, he was a god &%$# superhero.
