I wouldn't call it a "GOP wave". After reading so much about Trump voters, I think it's an "unheard conservative" wave.

When all the dust settles, I think we'll see that the wave that pushed Trump over the top was the "poorly educated" (whom he so loves), blue collar, rural, Appalachian/Midwestern voters. These folks that the country largely left behind, the folks who suffered most in the 2008 recession and have benefited least from the recovery.
If Trump actually manages to follow through on his promises to him, we could see an economic boom among the middle class like we haven't seen since the 1950s.
But if he instead follows the Paul Ryan economic agenda, we're heading into another Gilded Age the likes of which we haven't seen before.
The GOP did nothing to promote this wave. It was all Trump speaking to voters that no one has since President Reagan.
