Please forget all the whisky talk I spouted last night. Here is my one major problem with President Trump. I'll state it and ask for comments.

It seems to me we are seeing a massive failure of the classic liberalism system set up in the aftermath of World War II to ensure peace. It lasted the length of Trump's life, but now it is failing rapidly. You see it not only in this election and Brexit, but also in things like the Duterte clown in the Phillipines and Colombian voters rejecting the peace treaty with FARC.
My big concern with this death of the ancien regime is that I don't see any thinkers in the current Trump camp who can address this. I fear that rather than proactively setting an agenda for the world, a Trump administration would be reactionary, buffeted by events at will.
Say what you will about the neo-cons in the W administration (and I've a lot to say about them), at least they had some folks who thought about the world order. I think a lot of their ideas were foolish, but at least they had ideas.
I worry that an opportunity worldwide will turn into a crisis instead.

I think it is entirely fair to be concerned on that front and I'm watching his staff and cabinet appointments carefully for clues as to his intent. -- nm

Yep, I fear it's going to be Trump and Company reacting and always being one move behind

Yeah, I don't disagree with you here. I don't think he ever really took running seriously, so (and it shows in his campaigning) I don't really think
