I'm a fan of McGregor, but I think he's likely irrevocably damaged the sport.

it's no longer the love of the game or the quest for the belt that drives the fighters. it's getting matched with someone who can "move the needle" and secure a big pay day. and there is only a small handful of guys/girls who can do that.
