In response to "ranked voting passed in Maine so they might get rid of their insane governor. -- nm" by Reagen

hahahaha, we had ranked voting in our county as an experiment, we ended up with an insane assessor

ranking would be great for major offices, so then you could vote for your fringe guy, but if he doesn't make it, then my 2nd choice the not so crazy one.

but with smaller offices you really don't know who they are. many of us vote by party, or read their bullshit in the voter guide. check off the newspaper recommends. well, neither the red or blue guy got enough to win, so the roll over, lots of folks picked the looney bird, this was a guy who kept appearing at counsel open floor discussion, public input etc, and running his mouth off about his one issue no matter what the matter at the time was, so much he was barred from the meetings for disruption. now in light of the angry white revolt maybe his brand of looney hit a mark, he complained that assors were only doing drive by assessments instead of inspections. that point was moot in the real estate bubble mid 2000's AND our real estate gross collections capped at a mere 1% growth. it meant that actual values were wway ahead of any asssessed value and you might as well use zillow. anyway he was a worse hot head than drumpf on twitter at 3am, ended up gettng the country sued for millions for harrassment, revenge firings. and that was the end of ranked voting in our state
