major companies are 'sold' to some minor office in a foriegn country, ireland was popular because of their tax rates, however that was ruled against

by the euro courts, I don't know how or if brexit will effect it, maybe GB will have to raise tax rates to make up lost income.
iirc walmart is 'owned' by a subsidiary in neatherlands where they have no stores
