I agreed that he might be a galvanizing figure (not his fault). I think Ex-Presidents are given some deference though.

I don't think those calling him racists names will change their minds but as you said, I think the middle can increasingly lean more left. We've heard for a generation that we're a Center/Right nation - Bill Clinton proved that. Maybe with Obama leading we can move it more to the Center (or even to the Left?)
