Dear Senator Toomey
Congratulations on your reelection. In your campaign advertisements, you argued that you were an independent voice who would be able stand up to the president and his party when needed. I intend to hold you to that promise, and to your responsibility to represent all Pennsylvanians in the Senate.
The election of Donald Trump as our next president after the campaign he ran has raised many concerns among myself and my friends as to the future of this country. I hope you will use your position as our senator to address these concerns in a way that moves our country forward.
-- Ensure that all Americans maintain their access to healthcare they receive as a result of the Affordable Care Act ("Obamacare")
-- Ensure that women maintain access to all of their healthcare options, including reproductive care, by supporting funding for Planned Parenthood and opposing efforts to restrict access to care.
-- Ensure that LGBT rights are protected by supporting continued equality for their families, and opppsing efforts to expose Trans individuals to harassment over their use of restroom facilities.
-- Protect the rights of African-Americans to live free of harassment by law enforcement, and support proactive engagement to rebuild trust between police and the communities they serve.
-- Protect the rights of Muslims and immigrant communities to live free of harassment, and recognize the importance contributions they make to our country.
Please use your position to stand up against divisiveness and hate. I hope that together we can work for a better America.
