There might be some opportunity. I can see. But it still doesn't really get to the issues I'm struggling with. Yes, keeping the democratic base

engaged and motivated is crucial (and that is what working for these things in the city largely would be). But focus is more 1) in the near term, how do we deal with the Trump administration generally and 2) how can we begin to change the hearts and minds of people who have aligned themselves with him. Gaining back some national power is crucial over the next 4 years, but the longer term issues of the things that the republican party and Trump have seized and encouraged (lack of faith in the effectiveness of government and the institution as a whole, the scapegoating of populations, a scorched earth approach to policy rather than negotiation and compromise). How do we deal with those?
